| Exact | 0 | The variable is initialized with the start value by the FMU. |
| Approx | 1 | The variable is an iteration variable of an algebraic loop within the FMU and the iterative solution process in initialization starts with the start value as guess value. |
| Calculated | 2 | The variable is calculated by the FMU from other variables during initialization. For calculated variables a start attribute must not be provided. |
